Errata and Remarks
- One reader of the thesis remarked that Georg Theodor Siemssen is
correctly abbreviated as "G. Theodor Siemssen", and not as "Georg Th.
Siemssen" since Georg was his middle name. This is, e.g., incorrectly
written on page 15 and 131. More information about Georg Theodor
Siemssen can be found on http://www.anbg.gov.au/biography/siemssen-theodor.html
- One reader also noted that the company Siemssen & Krohn in
Fuzhou was economically/financially not connected to the older company
Siemssen & Co. When Siemssen & Co. closed its branch in
Fuzhou in 1885, Gustav Siemssen (1857-1915) independently opened
his business and also acted from 1894 as German consul. More
information about Siemssen & Krohn can also be found in
Ostasiatischer Verein Hamburg-Bremen e. V. (Hrsg.), Zum 60 jährigen Bestehen (1900-1960), Hamburg 1960, S. 222 f.
- Another reader remarked that the first and last name of the citations of the article Piotr, Kurzawa. "Küstenbefestigungen in Xiamen". fortifikation 28 (2014): 3–22. were erroneously swapped. See, e.g., page 125 in the bibliography.
